BUILD UP is hosting the fifth webinar, part of a series of six webinars organised with the COST Action project on ‘Stakeholder Webinar Series – Contractors, Builders, and Manufacturers of Construction Products’.
The construction sector is responsible for a high share of emissions and resource consumption, having a challenging legal and economic framework. In this context, the Teixeira Duarte Group has the mission of “contributing to the construction of a better world”. Rita Moura, Director of Innovation of Teixeira Duarte, will provide insight into sustainability, circularity, and innovation within the construction sector, presenting the path Teixeira Duarte has taken towards a more sustainable AEC sector and built environment.
Maria João Martins, Corporate Sustainability Manager of ACA Group, will cover key sustainability initiatives at ACA Group, including the assessment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through participatory activities involving workers across various locations. She will highlight the corporate sustainability reporting, featuring a double materiality analysis, and the successful implementation of the eCircular certification, which evaluates the company’s circularity level. Additionally, the presentation will focus on efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction sector, aimed at minimizing the overall environmental impacts of ACA Group’s operations.
Christophe Sykes, Director General of Construction Products Europe, will highlight the essential changes that the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) revision will deliver, including the introduction of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) and the inclusion of sustainability indicators in the Declaration of Performance and Conformity (DoPC). The construction industry is one of the most efficient levers to decarbonise our society through such crucial steps as the deep energy renovation of both residential and non-residential segments. The construction products industry is thoroughly committed to the EU Green Deal and its circular economy concept, whilst having to offer solutions to a worsening housing crisis. In this context, it is vital to incentivise a competitive and sustainable construction ecosystem, bringing all relevant stakeholders together to draft the announced European Commission housing construction strategy.
